Bodo Fritsche was first licensed in 1992 as DG1OBJ. He then upgraded to DL3OCH and had his first little DXpedition to HB0 in 1994. He was interested in DXing and activating other DXCCs and IOTAs. Bodo joined the German Navy in 1996 and was based on a sail training ship as a standing crew member. This gave him the opportunity to travel and activate DXCCs like ZB2, EA9, VP9, CU, 3A, IS0, TK and many others. After spending five years at the Navy, he studied electrical engineering with focus on RF. His later job in the antenna development opend new door to make hiss mall DX activities more efficient. A lot of countries were added on his list and Bodo started to activate many IOTAs as well as activate countries for the first time ever via the moon (EME) on 1.3GHz. The real pleasure started when he started a job as commissioning engineer at Ampegon (former Thomson). This new job allows him to travel to DX locations and enjoy his hobby or at least share his experience with local OMs. Countries like 5N, 5H, HZ, 7X, SU, BY, BV, DU, T8 were added and in many cases his work could benefit from the hobby. Now in 2018, Bodo has visited 83 DXCCs. He has been active from 67 DXCCs as well as 53 IOTAs. Besides DXing and a little bit contesting, Bodo enjoys it to play around with big amplifiers and antennas. Bodo is married and hast wo kids.
